Nylon patch is dry to the touch and ready for use right out of the box. Unlike reactive thread lockers, nylon patch performs immediately upon assembly with no curing time required. When assembled with a mating part, nylon patch is compressed. The engineered plastic (typically a Nylon Patch) resists this compression and acts like a wedge, increasing the metal to metal contact 180° opposite the material. This mechanical force creates a strong, yet fully adjustable lock which will not weaken, even under extreme vibration. Nylon patch screw is commonly known as a prevailing torque type self-locking fastener.
